Mary is known worldwide for her work as a judge on Best Home Cook and The Great British Bake Off, along with its spin off series. She also presented Love Productions' The Great American Baking Show for NBC. The Platinum Pudding for Platinum Jubilee and The King's Dish 2023 for King Charles's Coronation.

In 2019 she joined forces with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in A Berry Royal Christmas, preparing a festive feast to thank volunteers working over the Christmas period.

Mary trained at The Cordon Bleu in Paris and Bath School of Home Economics, and in the 1960s she became the cookery editor of Housewife magazine, and later, Ideal Home magazine. She first appeared on television in the 1970’s and has since written over eighty cookery books with sales of over six million copies.

She has won many awards including Good Housekeeping Award for Food Book of the Year and Best TV Judge at the National TV Awards. In 2012 Mary was honoured with a CBE for services to culinary arts.

Mary Berry is one of the UK's best-known and respected cookery writers. More than six million copies of her books have now been sold - not bad for a girl who failed her school certificate in English. On television, it is her role as a judge on The Great British Bake-off that has brought her to the attention of a new generation. It was in domestic science lessons that she discovered her love of cooking and she is in no doubt of the importance of teaching cookery in school "When everybody leaves school, whether they are a boy or a girl, what do they have to do in the home? They have to produce a meal. They haven't been taught to do it. I think it should be essential."
